Adeleke Accuses Oyetola Of Plotting Mayhem In Osun Over LG Chairmen’s Reinstatement

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has raised an alarm, alleging that Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Gboyega Oyetola, is planning to instigate chaos in the state starting Monday, February 17, 2025.

Speaking at a press conference on Sunday, Adeleke claimed that Oyetola, in collaboration with security agencies, is attempting to enforce a court order reinstating sacked All Progressives Congress (APC) local government chairmen.

Adeleke accused Oyetola of working with the Osun State Commissioner of Police, the Director of the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Civil Defense Corps Commandant to undermine law and order.

“I am calling this press conference to alert the nation and the global community about a deliberate plot to create chaos and anarchy in Osun State,” Adeleke stated.

He alleged that Oyetola was issuing illegal directives to security operatives to enforce a non-existent court judgment, describing it as a fascist and anti-democratic agenda.

The controversy stems from a court ruling that reversed the sack of APC-elected council chairmen. However, Adeleke insisted that their removal was executed before he took office, contradicting claims that he was responsible for their dismissal.

“These chairmen were removed before my swearing-in as governor, yet Oyetola is using another court decision—without a consequential order—to force them back into office,” he explained.

Governor Adeleke reaffirmed his belief in President Bola Tinubu’s commitment to democracy and urged him not to allow Oyetola’s alleged actions to destabilize the state.

“I know Mr. President to be a true democrat who believes in the rule of law. I am certain he would never support actions that could lead to bloodshed in Osun State,” Adeleke declared.

As the situation unfolds, tensions remain high, with both political camps preparing for what could be a major confrontation over the control of local governments in Osun.
