Tinubu Presides Over Second FEC Meeting In Abuja

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is currently leading the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the State House, Abuja, marking the second consecutive session in two days.

The meeting, which began at 1:26 p.m., follows the first FEC meeting of 2025, held on Monday. Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, earlier informed journalists that the Council scheduled a two-day session to address a backlog of pending memoranda.

“Since December, we haven’t had a Council meeting, so many memos have accumulated. The President is determined to clear them all. Another FEC meeting is scheduled for tomorrow, followed by a press briefing,” Idris stated.

Present at the meeting are:

• Vice President Kashim Shettima
• Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume
• Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila
• Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Walson-Jack
• Several ministers and ministers of state

On Monday, the FEC approved N4.8 billion for the Presidential Treatment Programme, which will provide 150,000 HIV treatment packs between February and May 2025.

The Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Ali Pate, explained that this decision followed discussions on the impact of recent U.S. policy changes affecting Nigeria’s health programs, particularly HIV, tuberculosis, and malaria funding.
