US Justice Department Dismisses Officials Involved In Trump Prosecutions

The US Justice Department has fired several officials linked to the criminal prosecutions of former President Donald Trump.

Acting Attorney General James McHenry made the decision, citing the officials’ involvement in prosecuting Trump, which he believed undermined their ability to faithfully implement the president’s agenda.

Though the exact number of officials dismissed was not revealed, reports indicate that more than a dozen individuals, including career prosecutors, were let go.

Special Counsel Jack Smith, who was responsible for bringing two federal cases against Trump, resigned earlier this month.

These charges related to Trump’s efforts to overturn the 2020 election results and mishandling classified documents after leaving office.

Trump has long claimed that the Justice Department’s actions against him were politically motivated and vowed to fire Smith upon taking office.

The firing of these officials was expected, as Trump had previously criticized the Justice Department under President Biden, accusing it of a “political witchhunt.”

Trump continues to face various legal challenges, including racketeering charges in Georgia and a conviction in New York for falsifying business records.
