Nigerian music star Burna Boy has issued a stern warning to fellow artist Speed Darlington following his release from detention after a two-month incarceration.
Darlington, who was arrested in November 2024 over allegations of defamation against Burna Boy, was freed on Tuesday evening.
His detention followed a public feud in which he accused Burna Boy of inappropriate involvement with embattled American rapper and music executive Diddy, who was facing an FBI investigation at the time.
Despite being granted bail weeks earlier, Darlington’s release was delayed until now.

Reacting to the news, Burna Boy took to his Instagram stories, stating, “If you misbehave again, you’ll go back to where you came from! And this time around, there will be no mercy! Don’t mess with ODG. ”
Darlington’s lawyer, Stanley Alieke, confirmed the artist’s release via Instagram, sharing photos of him with a new look. Alieke expressed gratitude for his client’s freedom and vowed to pursue legal action against the Nigerian police for the alleged violation of his fundamental rights.
The controversy began in October 2024 when Darlington mocked Burna Boy’s ties to Diddy, leading to the release of a diss track, Baby Oil, which gained traction on Spotify Nigeria.
The dispute escalated when Darlington demanded an apology from Burna Boy’s mother and ₦12 million in compensation.
On November 27, 2024, Darlington was arrested during a performance in Owerri and remained in detention despite a court order on December 23 mandating his release.

Further legal battles ensued, with the court eventually granting him bail on January 15, 2025, at ₦20 million with strict conditions, including the submission of his passport and a surety from a Level 10 civil servant.
Darlington has since filed a ₦300 million lawsuit against the Inspector-General of Police for wrongful detention and violation of his rights.
The case is set to resume on January 27, following a request from the IGP’s legal team for more time to review evidence.
Supporters and fans of Speed Darlington have expressed relief at his release, while his legal team continues to push for justice and compensation.
