Ned Nwoko Set To Dump PDP For APC Over Alleged Marginalization

Senator Ned Nwoko, representing Delta North in the National Assembly, is set to officially defect from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing frustration and marginalization by Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and the party leadership.  

Nwoko’s Director of Communications, Gloria Okolugbo, disclosed this during an interview with  that the senator had informed stakeholders, supporters, and constituents of his intention to leave the PDP. 

She stated that despite his commitment to serving the Anioma people, Nwoko had faced a lack of cooperation from the party, making it difficult to fulfill his campaign promises.

Among the grievances cited were the PDP’s refusal to support key infrastructural projects, such as the Okpai Independent Power Project, which would provide electricity to over 60 communities in Delta North, and the Ogwashi-Uku Dam meant to supply water to the region.  

Okolugbo criticized the PDP’s internal structure, stating that the lack of internal democracy had driven Nwoko to seek a platform where he could better serve his constituents.

She confirmed that plans for his defection to the APC were in advanced stages, and the move had already created tension within the PDP camp in Delta State.  

“With Nwoko’s defection, APC will now have all three Delta senators in its fold, further weakening the PDP’s influence in the state,” Okolugbo added.  

She emphasized that the senator had exhausted all avenues to address internal party issues but ultimately decided to switch allegiance to the ruling party in order to deliver on his governance promises.
