Police Arrest Lagos Teacher For Slapping 3-Year-Old Pupil

A school teacher, Stella Nwadigo, from Christ-Mitots School in Ikorodu, Lagos, has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly assaulting a three-year-old pupil, Abayomi Michael.  

The arrest followed a viral video showing the teacher physically mistreating the child, which sparked widespread condemnation on social media.  

The Lagos State Police Command spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident, stating: “The teacher has been taken into custody and is currently undergoing investigation. Further necessary actions will follow to ensure justice is served.”

The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) also issued a statement confirming the arrest. 

On its official X account, the agency stated: “We are pleased to inform the public that the teacher in question has been arrested by Owutu FSU, and an investigation has commenced in earnest. 

Institutions of learning should be safe, warm, and protective environments for all children in their care.”  

The DSVA reaffirmed the Lagos State Government’s commitment to child safety by enforcing regulations, holding offenders accountable, and promoting a zero-tolerance stance on abuse.
