2027: “PDP Has Humiliated Us” – Kwankwaso

Dr. Rabiu Kwankwaso, the 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), has dismissed rumors of a rotational presidency agreement involving former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Labour Party’s former presidential candidate, Peter Obi.  

In an interview with BBC Hausa Service on Monday, Kwankwaso clarified that he has not engaged in discussions or reached any agreements with the two politicians. 

He emphasized his decision to remain politically neutral until the end of 2024 to allow governments at all levels to focus on governance without distractions.

Kwankwaso accused the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of attempting to manipulate northern voters through deceptive strategies.  

“For any political arrangement to work, it must acknowledge historical context,” Kwankwaso said. “The PDP has humiliated us in the past. Many of us—myself, Peter Obi, Wike, and countless others—left the party because of this treatment.”  

The former Kano State governor also debunked claims that there was an agreement for Atiku to serve four years, followed by Kwankwaso for another four, and Peter Obi for eight years. 

He described such assertions as baseless and accused elder statesmen of spreading falsehoods.  

“This deceitful behavior is part of what destabilized the PDP and forced many of us out,” Kwankwaso stated.  

The politician reaffirmed that any future collaborations must address past grievances and align with the interests of the people.
