In a bid to enhance aviation safety, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo (SAN), has commissioned the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) Flight Data Analysis (FDA) Centre to enhance aviation safety.
The grand commissioning of the centre, another legacy project of the Acting Director-General of Civil Aviation (Ag. DGCA), Capt. Chris Najomo, took place on Wednesday, 11 December 2024, at the Authority’s corporate headquarters in Abuja.
According to the NCAA, THE Key benefits of the FDA centre include enhancing safety oversight, regulatory compliance, incident investigation, operational performance monitoring, trend analysis and risk management, improving stakeholder collaboration, cost savings and efficiency, and global credibility.
The project, built to serve as a safety data bank, was facilitated by the Directorate of Special Duties, led by Mr. Horatius Egua.

Meanwhile, Keyamo also led a comprehensive inspection of key facilities at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja. Accompanied by the Managing Director/CEO of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria FAAN, Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, and senior officials from the Ministry of Aviation.
The inspection reinforced the Minister’s unwavering commitment to enhancing seamless passenger facilitation across Nigeria’s airports.
During the visit, the Minister assessed critical infrastructure, including the allocated site for the forthcoming aircraft assembly plant, newly procured CNG buses, improved passenger screening areas, and the recently completed multi-level car park. In addition to evaluating facilities, the Honourable Minister engaged directly with passengers and airport users to gather first-hand feedback on their experiences.
This strategic initiative, coordinated with the leadership of FAAN, underscores the Honourable Minister’s vision to modernize and optimize aviation operations nationwide.
