Nigerian Afrobeats icon Tiwa Savage has urged musicians to prioritize building genuine relationships with their fans, emphasizing that fan engagement goes beyond music alone.

Speaking on the “Shopping The Sneakers” podcast, Savage highlighted how top stars like Wizkid, Davido, and Burna Boy have mastered the art of staying relevant by cultivating strong bonds with their fanbases.

“It’s not just about the music; it’s your fanbase and your brand. You have to think of your fashion and be relatable. A lot of times, artists are just putting out music but not really connecting with the fans,” she said.

Savage explained that fans often resonate with multiple facets of an artist’s life, including their lifestyle and personal brand. She praised her colleagues for leveraging these connections, ensuring they remain in the spotlight even when not releasing new music.

“Whether they are dropping a song or not, they are always in the conversation. It’s really important to build a fanbase. You are only as strong as your team,” she added.

Tiwa Savage’s insight underscores the growing importance of fan relationships in sustaining long-term success in the music industry.
