Police Arrest Speed Darlington, Barely Two Months After Release

Controversial Nigerian singer, Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington or Akpi, has been arrested by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force. This marks the second time in two months the singer has been detained.

Recall that Speed Darlington was previously arrested on October 4, 2024, after releasing a video allegedly mocking Burna Boy’s association with American rapper Diddy, who has faced legal troubles over allegations of sexual exploitation. The singer was later released on bail on October 9 after spending five days in detention.

Speed Darlington’s lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, confirmed the latest arrest via a Facebook post on Wednesday. He wrote, “Our client, Speed Darlington a.k.a Akpi, has been arrested by the Nigerian Police in Owerri at his show upon return to Nigeria.”

However, details regarding the arrest is yet to be disclosed by the Police Force.
