Tinubu Nominates Three INEC Commissioners For Senate Approval

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has submitted the names of three nominees for confirmation as commissioners in the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).  

The nominees include Tukur Abdulrazak Yusuf as National Commissioner for the North West, Professor Sunday Nwambam Aja as National Commissioner for the South East, and Saseyi Feyejimi Ibiyemi as Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Ondo State.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio read the President’s request during Tuesday’s plenary session, emphasizing the constitutional provision under Section 154(1) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).  

The letter expressed the hope that the Senate would confirm the nominees promptly. 

Following the announcement, Akpabio referred the request to the Senate Committee on INEC for further review, with a report expected in two weeks.
