NSCDC Deploys 6,000 Officers For Ondo Governorship Election

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has mobilized 6,000 officers to enhance security measures for the November 16 Ondo State Governorship Election. 

Commandant General Ahmed Abubakar Audi made this announcement, emphasizing the Corps’ commitment to a peaceful and credible election process.

The deployment, as detailed by NSCDC spokesperson Babawale Afolabi, includes specialized units such as the Counter Terrorism Unit, Agro Rangers, and Marine Unit, which will operate across Ondo’s 18 Local Government Areas and nearly 4,000 polling units, including coastal regions. 

Officers from neighboring states like Ekiti, Ogun, and Lagos will also support these efforts.

Audi highlighted the Corps’ role in safeguarding INEC personnel, protecting election materials, and preventing election-related violence. 

He urged collaboration with the Nigeria Police and reminded NSCDC personnel to maintain professionalism and discipline. 

He further cautioned parents to discourage their children from participating in violence, affirming that any breaches of electoral law would be met with swift action.
