A respected cardiologist, Dr. Monisola Adanijo has disclosed that healthy fats are not just beneficial but essential for the body.
This is coming on the heels of numerous health advice myths about food, particularly fats that are common.
According to a post by Dr. Adanijo titled “Myths and Facts, Weight Loss Edition” she opined that making drastic dietary choices in the name of health like ditching fats entirely was complicated.

“Healthy fats are not just beneficial but essential for the body” she wrote.
Continuing, she canvassed a balanced approach, emphasizing how polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats (found in foods like avocados, nuts, and certain oils) are actually good for us. They support everything from energy production to heart and brain health.
She opined that when people cut out all fats from their diet, they’re depriving their bodies of key nutrients. Healthy fats are essential for the heart, the brain, and overall energy.

“Healthy fats don’t just add flavour to our meals,” Dr. Adanijo explained further, “They support our metabolism, help regulate hormones and are essential for heart function. When we try to remove them completely, we’re working against our health goals.”
In a time when health trends are constantly evolving, the real message here was one of moderation and understanding that cutting out entire food groups can be more harmful than beneficial, and that healthy fats.
