Obaseki Dissolves Edo Cabinet Ahead Of Incoming Governor’s Swearing-In

Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has dissolved his cabinet in preparation for the November 12 inauguration of the state’s new governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Obaseki, who has served as governor since November 12, 2016, officially concludes his eight-year tenure this month.

The dissolution was announced following a valedictory session held on Friday at the Government House in Benin.

Deputy Governor Godwins Omobayo moved the motion to dissolve the State Executive Council (2020-2024), which was seconded by Osilama Okuofu, Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning.

During the session, Obaseki expressed his gratitude to council members for their dedication to the administration’s mission of “Making Edo Great Again.” He also thanked the people of Edo State for their support and collaboration throughout his tenure.

Cabinet members used the occasion to pay tribute to Obaseki’s leadership, recognizing his achievements across various sectors.

Outgoing commissioners and heads of ministries, departments, and agencies presented awards and gifts to honor the governor for his service.
