“I’m Alive, Healthy, Not ill” – Okorocha Dispels Death Rumors

Former Imo State Governor and Senator Rochas Okorocha has addressed false rumors about his alleged death, attributing them to jealousy over the warm reception he received at the recent burial of Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, the Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide President-General.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media, Sam Onwuemeodo, Okorocha expressed surprise at the “breaking news” circulated by unidentified sources on November 6, 2024. The rumors claimed he had passed away in a London hospital from a fictitious illness called “acute gorilla.”

The statement affirmed that Okorocha, who attended the burial in Owerri, is in good health and has not been ill since his departure from office in 2019.

“To all men and women of conscience,” the statement read, “the true breaking news is that Rochas Okorocha is alive, healthy, and not ill. He continues his schedule, honoring prominent Igbos, including Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, in Abuja.”

The statement also criticized the rumor’s originators, calling them “dead in spirit” and accusing them of being envious of the applause Okorocha received at the burial. Okorocha urged prayers for their spiritual well-being, extending no ill will.

“Those who fabricated this news were driven by anger over the ovation Okorocha received. We do not curse those whom God has blessed but wish them genuine repentance and a return to a normal life. We pray for them,” the statement concluded.
