Atiku Abubakar Denies Involvement In PDP Leadership Crisis

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has distanced himself from the ongoing leadership turmoil within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

His Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shuaibu, clarified that Atiku has no role in the recent party crisis.

The PDP has recently faced suspensions and counter-suspensions, prompting intervention by the PDP Governors’ Forum, the Board of Trustees, and the National Reconciliation Committee.

Atiku and Wike were notably absent from Thursday’s meeting chaired by PDP Governors’ Forum Chairman Bala Mohammed, who described it as a gathering of PDP stakeholders.

Concerns remain that internal disputes could resurface at the party’s National Executive Council (NEC) meeting on November 28.

When asked if Atiku’s team was involved in plans to challenge Justice Peter Lifu’s order, which prevents party officials from removing the acting National Chairman, Ambassador Umar Damagum, Shuaibu dismissed the notion as baseless.

 “Atiku believes in due process and is focused on strengthening the PDP. It is extremely farfetched and unfair to suggest any involvement in actions that might undermine the party,” Shuaibu stated.
