Patrick Doyle Rebukes ‘I Am A Chosen’ Phrase

Renowned Nollywood actor Patrick Doyle has criticized the popular statement “I am a Chosen,” which adherents of The Lord’s Chosen Charismatic Revival Ministries frequently recite.

The actor’s comments come after a social media backlash over the widely shared church testimony.

Doyle said that the popular statement is not Christian theology and called it “nonsensical” in a post on his Facebook page.

“The phrase ‘I am a Chosen,’ used by members of the religious sect called ‘Chosen,’ should never be connected to the Body of Christ.

“The members of this sect don’t have Jesus in mind when chanting the phrase. Their adoration is unequivocally directed at a man, their GO. The phrase does not mention or imply Jesus in any way.

“To infer that the nonsensical phrase is connected to giving glory to the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ, is to make a mockery of our faith.

“Content creators and bloggers using the phrase are not mocking the Church of God but the sect and its founder.”

DAILY POST reports that actor IK Ogbonna had a few days ago called on the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, to tackle the issue of “fake miracles” in churches.

Other celebrities who have also reacted to the trending phrase include actress Kemi Lala Akindoju, who criticised the church’s doctrine.

In its reaction to the “I am a Chosen” phrase, CAN had condemned the viral testimony of a congregant who claimed “an angel” provided answers to her during an examination.
