NUJ Bayelsa Honours Ogbuku, NDDC MD

The Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ, Bayelsa State Council, has honoured The Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC, Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, with an Excellence Award in recognition of his contributions to society.

The Chairman of The Union, Comrade Samuel Numonengi presented the award at the recipient’s country home, Ayakoro in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State. Numonengi said the award was part of activities marking the Bayelsa State 2024 NUJ Press Week and the union had gone through the track records of the MD and found him worthy of The Award He enumerated the achievements of The MD which includes his leadership role in the commission which culminate into various developmental projects such as solar-powered street lights to rural Niger Delta communities.

While receiving the award, Ogbuku dedicated it to Commission, thanking the Journalists for the honour and promised to achieve more as he will be spurred on by the recognition. He urged the Journalists to always stick to their professional ethics and continue being the watchdogs of the society.

Ogbuku recognized the media as partners in development and promised to continue to collaborate with the media in providing more people-oriented projects in the Niger Delta region.
