Dangote Refinery: Marketers Refute Boycott Claims

Published

on

Despite claims of a boycott, Petroleum marketers said Dangote refinery has successfully supplied over 500,000 metric tonnes of diesel and Jet A1 to local petroleum marketers in Nigeria. This represents 60% of the national truck-out in the past five months.

The Depot and Petroleum Products Marketers Association of Nigeria (DAPPMAN) confirmed that several independent marketers, including Asharami, MRS Oil and Gas, AA Rano, Rainoil, Prudent, NIPCO, Aym Shafa, and Danmarna, have purchased products from the refinery.

While the refinery has been a significant contributor to the local fuel market, the lack of clarity surrounding the availability of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) remains a barrier to wider patronage. DAPPMAN has called for transparency and clear guidelines to facilitate the offtake of PMS from the refinery.

Olufemi Adewole, the chairman of DAPPMAN, emphasized the importance of a competitive market to ensure the availability, reliability, and accessibility of petroleum products nationwide.

He stated that marketers are committed to supporting the refinery and meeting the nation’s energy needs, but price, quality, and seamless accessibility are crucial factors in determining product sourcing.

As DAPPMAN continues to advocate for a transparent and competitive market, it remains committed to providing Nigerians with high-quality fuel solutions and ensuring the sustainability of the petroleum products sector.

This is contrary to comments credited to the Vice President of Dangote Industries Limited, Devakumar Edwin, who said that local petroleum marketers were boycotting the refinery.
