The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has issued a strong warning to Nigerians about the fraudulent activities of Christ MercyLand Deliverance Ministries, led by Prophet Jeremiah Fufeyin.
In a statement released on Sunday, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, NAFDAC’s Director General, emphasized that none of the products advertised and sold by the organization have been approved or registered by the agency.
NAFDAC said, “We want to alert the public about the deceptive practices of Christ MercyLand Deliverance Ministries, which is using the NAFDAC name to mislead unsuspecting individuals.”
The agency has recently received numerous complaints from concerned citizens regarding Senior Prophet Jeremiah Omoto Fufeyin and his ministry, located at Km 5 Effurun, Sapele Road, Delta State. These complaints involve Miracle Water and Miracle Soap being marketed with claims of healing and miracles, purportedly endorsed by NAFDAC.
Fufeyin has promoted these products as remedies for conditions such as barrenness, claiming that the soap would lead to women having twins and asserting that the soap is registered with NAFDAC.
The agency’s investigation began after a social media influencer, Verydarkman, challenged these claims. Members of the public also visited NAFDAC to verify the assertions.
Petitioners provided NAFDAC with samples of products from the ministry, including Miracle & Healing Water, River Jordan Water, Miracle Water from The Pool of Bethsaida, and several others.
NAFDAC contacted the Delta State Coordinator through the Director of Post Marketing Surveillance to confirm any transactions with Christ Mercy Land Deliverance Ministries. The Coordinator was instructed to visit the ministry to verify the claims and assess the production facility.
During a covert investigation, the Coordinator purchased Miracle Water for 3,000 naira and documented the transaction. On August 14, 2024, the Coordinator visited the ministry and met with officials who denied producing the Miracle Water and Soap. They claimed that while the labels bore their logo and address, the products were not theirs. The officials acknowledged having only a spiritual product called Pool of Bethsaida Water, but refused further cooperation.
On August 27, 2024, NAFDAC, along with the Federal Task Force on Counterfeit and Fake Drugs and Unwholesome Processed Foods, attempted to investigate the ministry’s premises but faced non-cooperation. The officials were invited to report on August 28, 2024, but did not comply. Instead, they submitted a legal document at NAFDAC Headquarters in Abuja, requesting more time to organize their documents. NAFDAC then extended a deadline to September 29, 2024, for the Prophet to report to the Asaba office for further investigation.
Despite waiting, the ministry officials failed to show up, and on September 3, 2024, they only sent documents rather than appearing in person.
NAFDAC has now sealed the Globod Table Water factory, which was involved in the production and sale of unregistered Miracle Water, falsely claiming NAFDAC registration.
“Clearly, Christ MercyLand Deliverance Ministries, KM 5, is not cooperating with the investigation into their production and advertisement of potentially falsified and unregistered miracle products,” NAFDAC stated.
The agency reassures the public that none of these products are NAFDAC-registered and advises against purchasing them. NAFDAC is committed to scientific verification before product registration and will continue to investigate the ministry’s activities. The agency also warns faith-based organizations against illegal production of regulated products without proper regulatory approvals.
