The Plateau State House of Assembly has shortened the tenure of elected local government officials from three years to two.

The decision was made in line with the amended Plateau State Independent Electoral Commission (PLASIEC) Law 2024 and the recent financial autonomy granted to local governments in Nigeria.

3. 10 Foreigners Die In South African Bus Crash

Ten foreign nationals were killed in a bus accident on the N1 highway near Makhado, South Africa.

The crash occurred on Tuesday night as the bus was traveling from Zimbabwe to Johannesburg.

4. Lagos Nurse Arrested Over Woman’s Death

A nurse has been arrested in Lagos State in connection with the death of a 36-year-old woman named Mrs. Abiola.

The Lagos State Police Command confirmed the arrest on Wednesday, stating that the nurse was taken into custody following a report filed by the deceased’s driver at the Maroko Police Division.

5. Ogun Man Sentenced To 7 Years For Cult Membership

A 30-year-old man, Tope Mutairu, has been sentenced to seven years in prison for belonging to a secret cult.

The Ogun Special Cultism Court in Abeokuta found Mutairu guilty after hearing evidence presented by the prosecution.
