Illbliss Spits Fire Over Burna Boy, Wizkid, Davido

Rapper Tobechukwu Ejiofor, better known by his stage as Illbliss, has expressed his regret at the passing of music icons Burna Boy, Davido, and Wizkid, who all began their careers as afrobeats rappers.

Illbliss remembered that rap music was huge in Nigeria prior to rappers like Burna Boy, Wizkid, Davido, and others taking up singing in an interview with Radio Now 95.3 FM.

He claimed that when they turned to singing, they were able to become internationally famous.

He acknowledged that only a small number of rappers like himself have found financial success in Nigeria, where hip-hop music is not very profitable.

Illbliss said, “We (Hip-Hop community) lost a lot of our soldiers; we lost Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Davido. Three of them were rappers. I guess they found the afrobeats vibe and it made them global stars.

“Hip-hop is a tough sell in Nigeria. Not everybody has been as fortunate as myself or Vector, M.I., Reminisce, Olamide, and Phyno. It’s not a long list.
