Says An Arbitrary Removal of Party Leadership Could Cause Instability

The push to oust All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, intensified last week amid speculation that President Bola Tinubu might offer him an ambassadorial position to exit the country due to his ongoing corruption trial. Initially a rumor, the story gained traction on social media and online publications, citing unnamed sources within the APC and Presidency. However, some political observers suspect the narrative might have been orchestrated by North-Central party stalwarts seeking the leadership seat, which they claim is rightfully theirs after Senator Abdullahi Adamu’s exit.

This speculation follows a recent protest by North-Central APC members, who were dispersed by suspected thugs, and a legal injunction filed by Muhammad Etsu, a former APC chairmanship aspirant, to stop Ganduje from parading himself as national chairman. Etsu argues that the seat should remain in the North-Central, not the North-West, as zoned by the NEC.

Deputy National Organising Secretary Nze Chidi Duru dismissed the speculation, emphasizing the need for stability in party leadership. He stated that arbitrary removals could cause instability and harm the party. When approached, APC Deputy National Secretary Festus Fuanter declined to comment.
