Nigeria’s Olympic Hopes Dashed As Four Athletes Disqualified From Finals

Four Nigerian athletes, Emmanuel Ojeli, Ezekiel Nathanial, Dubem Amene and Chidi Okezie have been disqualified from participating in the final of men’s 4x400m for alleged violation of a rule of the competition.

The four athletes were on course for the final after a strong second-place finish in their heat with a season’s best time of 2:59.81.

However, the officials of the Olympics announced a heartbreaking disqualification followed due to a lane infringement during the semi-finals.

Team Nigeria has been faced with a lot of setbacks in the course of Paris 2024. Cyclist Eze Ukpesereye recently revealed the embarrassing situation of having to borrow a bike from the German team to compete in Paris.
