Women Representation In Parliament Bill Passes Second Reading

A constitutional bill supporting Women representation in the National Assembly as well as State House of Assembly has passed through second reading in the House of Representatives.

The lawmakers were on Tuesday in-split  over the importance of the bill to the national interest. While some fully backed the bill, others kicked for critical observation.

The bill was sponsored by the Deputy Speaker of the House, Benjamin Kalu and 13 other lawmakers.

The bill eventually passed second reading after an extensive debate by the legislators and was referred to the Committee on Constitution Review, Senator Kalu, who presided over the plenary.
