Sanwo-Olu Backs Hamzat For 2027 Lagos Governorship

Babajide Sanwo-Olu has endorsed his deputy, Obafemi Hamzat, as his preferred successor for the 2027 governorship election.

The endorsement followed a closed-door meeting at Lagos House, Marina, where Hamzat formally declared his ambition before members of the State Executive Council and party leaders.

According to Sanwo-Olu, the decision was unanimous among stakeholders, who described Hamzat as capable and well-prepared to lead the state.

The meeting was attended by key figures, including Musiliu Obanikoro and Ganiyu Solomon.

Sanwo-Olu also acknowledged the role of Bola Tinubu in shaping both his and Hamzat’s political journey.
