Honourable Ime Bassey Okon, The Lawmaker representing Itu/Ibiono Ibom Federal Constituency of Akwa Ibom State in the House of Representatives on Monday played host to a political group, Itu Alliance For Umo Eno in his Constituency Office, Enen Mkprong street, Ikot Emien Itam in Itu Local Government Area.
The group, comprising political activists of The APC extraction from all the Wards in Itu Local Government Area went to introduce themselves to the Lawmaker and show solidarity and support for his second term bid to represent the Constituency.
Setting the tone at the occasion, The Spokesperson of the group Mr. Daniel Ebong told the legislator that they came to introduce themselves and their mission to him. He said that the group intends to mobilize support for the reelection of President Bola Tinubu, Governor Umo Eno among others.
The President of The Group, Mr. Sylvester Akan said that the group is a child of necessity formed to support the continuity of President Tinubu, Governor Eno and the host due to their superlative performances in their first term . He called for the support of The Lawmaker to make the group functional.
Speakers upon speakers eulogized The kind and philanthropist gestures of The Lawmaker and his laudable performance in his first tenure in The Green Chambers of The National Assembly, they concluded that one good term deserves another.
Speakers included Blessing Eyo, The Women Leader of the group, Mr. Joseph Edem, Obong Emmanuel Ekong, an a former APC Chapter Chairman from Itu Augustine Umoh. They all pledged their support for President Tinubu, Governor Eno and the host, they all thanked him for welcoming them to his office and promised to return him to The Green Chambers of The National Assembly.
In his response, the host, Rt. Honourable Okon thanked the group for looking out for him instead of waiting for him to look for them. He used the occasion to acknowledge the fact that his victory in the last election was as a result of votes from Itu indigenes, he further said that he holds Itu in high esteem. He urged them to ignore social media attacks on his person sponsored by his detractors. He lauded the group for their choice of name “ Itu Alliance For Umo Eno and slogan” Continuity. “ He promised to carry the group along during his campaign and after his success in the election.
In his vote of thanks, Hon. Idongesit Philip thanked The Lawmaker for hosting them, he further thanked members of the group for an impressive turn out and promised Hon. Okon a hundred percent support. He called on God to guide the host back to Abuja and protect him as he continues with his impactful representation.
Those who graced the occasion includes the Ward Coordinators of Itu Alliance For Umo Eno from all the 10 Wards in Itu and The APC Ward Chairman of Ward 7, Elder George Utip.
