El-Rufai Debunks PDP Defection Rumours, Threatens Legal Action

Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has categorically denied reports suggesting he has defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).  

In a statement on his verified X account (formerly Twitter) on Sunday, El-Rufai described the rumours as baseless and accused those behind the claims of deliberate mischief.  

“Please disregard the patent lies and rumours about my political affiliation. I have referred the lead peddlers of the fake news for further action by my lawyers,” he posted.  

A close associate of El-Rufai also dismissed the reports, asserting that the former governor, a staunch APC member, could not have joined the PDP without an official declaration.  

The speculation has sparked reactions across political circles, but El-Rufai has remained firm in his allegiance to the APC, warning against the spread of false information.  

El-Rufai, a key figure in the APC, has been at the forefront of several national discussions and controversies, further amplifying public interest in his political moves. 

However, this latest incident has once again highlighted the prevalence of misinformation in the political sphere.
