Shallipopi Parts Ways With Dapper Music, Cites Exploitation, Mismanagement

Nigerian music star Crown Uzama, popularly known as Shallipopi, has terminated his agreements with Dapper Music and Dvpper Digital, citing financial mismanagement, lack of transparency, and exploitative contracts.

In a statement titled *“A Message from Shallipopi: Standing Up for Artists and Creators Everywhere”* shared via his X handle on Wednesday, the artist explained his decision, calling it one of the toughest choices of his career.

“I’m officially ending my agreements with Dapper Music and Dvpper Digital. This wasn’t a choice I made lightly but one I had to take after my trust was broken, my finances mishandled, and my rights as an artist disregarded,” Shallipopi stated.

The artist alleged that Dapper Music pushed him into a deal with Dvpper Digital, both owned by the same person, prioritizing their profits over his growth. According to him, the arrangement led to funds advanced in his name being mismanaged, leaving him with an unspecified but significant debt.

He also criticized the lack of financial transparency and claimed that Dapper Music attempted to lock him into an exploitative contract, taking 30% of his earnings indefinitely, even after parting ways.

“This is not just unfair; it’s exploitation, and it is cruel,” he said.

Shallipopi emphasized that his decision was not only for his own benefit but also as part of a broader fight against exploitation in the music industry. Despite the setback, he reassured fans that his creativity and determination remain intact, and he will continue to produce music.

The split follows Shallipopi’s recent removal of Dapper Music from his bio and the launch of his own label, Plutomania Records.
