Tinubu Appoints MKO Abiola’s Son As SSA On Linguistics, Foreign Matters

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has named Jamiu Abiola, son of the late Chief Moshood Abiola, as his Senior Special Assistant on Linguistics and Foreign Matters. The appointment took effect on November 14, 2024.

Jamiu Abiola, whose father won the annulled 1993 presidential election under General Ibrahim Babangida’s regime, previously served as Special Assistant to the President on Special Duties in the Office of the Vice-President.

The announcement was confirmed in a statement issued by Segun Imohiosen, Director of Information and Public Relations in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

The statement read:
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of Jamiu Abiola as the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Linguistics and Foreign Matters. The appointment is effective from November 14, 2024, and aligns with the Certain Political and Judicial Office Holders (Salaries and Allowances, etc) Act 2008, as amended.”

It further highlighted Abiola’s previous experience, adding, “Until his appointment, Jamiu served as the Special Assistant to the President on Special Duties in the Office of the Vice President.”

President Tinubu has tasked Abiola with collaborating closely with the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs to leverage his expertise for success in his new role.
