Ekiti Governor Oyebanji Swears In Justice Ogunmoye As Acting Chief Judge

Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has appointed Justice Lekan Ogunmoye as the Acting Chief Judge of Ekiti State, following the recent passing of Chief Judge Justice Oyewole Adeyeye on November 4, 2024. 

Governor Oyebanji conducted the swearing-in at a solemn ceremony in the Governor’s Office in Ado-Ekiti, emphasizing that the move was essential to maintain continuity in judicial services.

The Governor explained that the appointment of Justice Ogunmoye aligns with the powers vested in him by Section 271 (4) of the Nigerian Constitution, ensuring that a leadership gap does not hinder the judicial process.

 “On the 4th of November, Ekiti lost a rare gem in Justice Adeyeye—a man of integrity and dedication who devoted his life to justice,” he remarked. “Even as we mourn, we are reminded that nature abhors a vacuum, especially within the judiciary.”

Governor Oyebanji commended Justice Ogunmoye’s qualifications and urged him to lead with humility, solidarity, and diligence during this period of transition. He expressed confidence in Ogunmoye’s capability to drive positive development within the judiciary and emphasized the importance of honoring the oath of office.

Justice Ogunmoye, expressing gratitude for the Governor’s trust, pledged to uphold justice in Ekiti State. 

He noted that the judiciary has received strong support under Oyebanji’s administration and reaffirmed his commitment to serving with integrity and dedication.
