Fayose Breaks Ranks With PDP, Endorses APC’s Oyebanji For Second Term

Former Governor of Ekiti State and PDP chieftain, Ayodele Fayose, has publicly endorsed the re-election bid of current Governor Biodun Oyebanji, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC). 

The endorsement was announced at an event commissioning infrastructure projects in Ado-Ekiti. 

Fayose praised Oyebanji’s developmental achievements and dismissed any concerns about party loyalty, stating, “I don’t care what people say about me. Whoever is not pleased should take their party away.”

However, the endorsement is seen as a significant boost to Oyebanji’s re-election campaign and has caused tensions within the PDP, with some members threatening Fayose with expulsion.

Despite potential backlash, Fayose emphasized the unity of Ekiti’s former governors behind Oyebanji and highlighted the governor’s progress in connecting over 40 towns to the national power grid. 

This endorsement signals a potential rift within the PDP as Ekiti prepares for the 2026 election.
