EFCC Invites Bobrisky, VeryDarkMan Over Jumping Jail Term

Ola Olukoyede, the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has directed an urgent inquiry into bribery claims made by Idris Okuneye, a controversial transvestite better known as Bobrisky, against some commission staff.

In a video posted by blogger Martins Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan, Okuneye, an ex-convict, said that some anonymous EFCC personnel had demanded ₦15 million from him in exchange for the EFCC dropping money laundering charges against him.

EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale said in a statement on Tuesday that the organization’s head has assembled a team of detectives to probe the claims.

“To this end, the Commission hereby invites both Okuneye and Otse (VeryDarkMan) to make themselves available at its Lagos Directorate to assist investigators unearth the alleged bribery,” he said.

The EFCC assured the public that the allegations would be thoroughly investigated and the result of the findings made public accordingly.

In April, Bobrisky was sentenced to six months imprisonment without an option of fine for abusing the Nigerian currency – naira.
