Police Recovers Arms from Suspected IPOB Members in A’Ibom

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command in it’s renewed effort at checkmating criminal activities recently  recovered arms and ammunition from suspected IPOB agents during a patrol operation, according to Timfon John, The Command’s PPRO in a statement, the recovery was made by The Command’s operatives who were on intensive patrol along Stadium Road in Abiakpo Edem Inyang Village, Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area acting on upon intelligence information that IPOB were planning to launch an attack on the state.

The team was said to have apprehended a Lexus Jeep with Registration Number KUJ 886 FF and the occupants,two young men came down from the vehicle and ran into a forest.

On searching the vehicle, the team recovered one AK 47 rifle loaded with 8 No of 8MM ammunitions; one locally made long range pistol, one cartridge, 4 different vehicle number plates, Zenith and Access Banks ATM Cards, National Drivers’ License card, black coloured clothes, bags containing substances suspected to be indian hemp and a torchligh

With the help of the village youth, the police team ransacked the forest but could not see the fleeing suspects. The search is in progress as the team is determined to fish out the miscreants.

The command has called on the residents of the community and State to be on alert and report suspicious  movements to the Police as the force is all out rid the state of all forms of criminality.
