The Rivers State Police Command have on Saturday arrested a man young man of about 20 years for abducting and gang raping a 14 year old girl for two days, the incident took place at Erima community, Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area of the state.
The suspect, identified simply as Honest committed the crime with his brother, identified as Okwukwe, who is in hiding.
The PPRO of The Command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko confirming the incident on Sunday said that the state Commissioner of Police CP Olatunji Disu, had directed that the detained suspect and the case be transferred to State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) Port Harcourt for thorough investigation and
ordered a thorough search for the fleeing accomplice. The CP emphasized that all those involved in the crime with face the full wrath of the law.
It was gathered that the culprits abducted the minor on a lonely path, on her way to her brother’s house in the community.
Narrating the incident to Newsmen, Mr Onuigba Chinonye Aboy , the number two man of ONELGA Security Planning and Advisory Committee (OSPAC), said, “I was on patrol with some of my boys when we met one woman who was crying that her 14 year old girl was.
“I now asked the woman which area, when she directed us to the area. We immediately begin an investigation and through the help of some good neighbours, we tried to find out where the little girl was.
“When we went into the place, we saw the two brothers, the senior and junior raping the little girl of 14 year old. In the process of trying to arrest them, the senior tried to prove stubborn to fight us. As we were dragging with him, the junior one now ran away, we now apprehended the senior one and handed over to Egi Police Division in Obite.” He called on criminals operating in the community to change or face the full wrath of the law.
“My advice to other criminals that we want to behave this way, is that we will also send them to the same place we sent this person if they don’t want to change.
“If they change, the community will contain us and them. But if they don’t want to change, this community and the entire Egi will not contain the OSPAC and the criminals.” Aboy said.
