Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has elevated former Big Brother Naija housemate Anto Lecky to the position of Special Adviser on Tourism and Creative Economy.
Lecky previously served as Senior Special Assistant on Tourism and Creative Economy before her elevation.
The appointment was announced on Tuesday as part of the state government’s efforts to promote tourism, preserve its cultural heritage and strengthen the creative industries.
A statement announcing the appointment said Lecky would serve as Special Adviser on Tourism and Creative Economy under the Okpebholo administration.
The government said the move aligned with its focus on tourism and creative industries as potential drivers of economic activity in the state.
Edo State is renowned for its rich cultural heritage, particularly the historic Benin Kingdom and its internationally recognised Benin bronzes. The state also boasts traditional festivals, crafts and contemporary artistic expressions.
The tourism and creative economy sectors encompass several areas, including cultural tourism, entertainment, fashion, film, music, visual arts and hospitality.
The state government has identified these sectors as areas with potential to attract investment, create economic opportunities and showcase Edo’s cultural heritage.
Lecky’s elevation represents a change in designation from Senior Special Assistant to Special Adviser on Tourism and Creative Economy.
