Yayi Unveils Kudirat Adegunwa-Balogun As Running Mate For Ogun 2027

The Ogun State governorship campaign of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, gained momentum on Sunday with the unveiling of Alhaja Kudirat Abiodun Adegunwa-Balogun as his running mate for the 2027 election.

The All Progressives Congress governorship candidate presented Adegunwa-Balogun to party stakeholders at the APC Secretariat in Abeokuta, describing her as a capable partner who would help advance the state’s development agenda.

Adeola said the selection followed extensive consultations with key stakeholders across Ogun State and reflected the party’s commitment to building an inclusive and experienced leadership team ahead of the election.

A native of Ososa in Ogun East Senatorial District, Adegunwa-Balogun is the daughter of prominent businessman and philanthropist, Sulaiman Adebola Adegunwa.

The unveiling ceremony attracted top APC figures, including Governor Dapo Abiodun, state party chairman Chief Yemisi Sanusi, former senator Gbenga Kaka and Senator Akin Odunsi.

Describing his running mate as disciplined, upright and experienced, Adeola said she would work closely with him to consolidate on the achievements of the current administration if elected in 2027.

The event came barely two months after Adeola emerged as the APC’s consensus governorship candidate and was subsequently ratified through the party’s direct primary process across the state.

Following a motion moved by Governor Abiodun, party stakeholders unanimously adopted Adegunwa-Balogun as the APC deputy governorship candidate through a voice vote.

In her acceptance remarks, Adegunwa-Balogun expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu, Governor Abiodun, Senator Adeola and party leaders for entrusting her with the responsibility, pledging to justify their confidence.
