Tinubu Critics Must Offer Solutions, Not Complaints – Oshiomhole

Senator Adams Oshiomhole has reignited political debate over insecurity, claiming Edo State was safer during his tenure as governor than Anambra was under former governor Peter Obi.

Speaking on Seun Okinbaloye’s Mic On Podcast, the former Edo governor argued that opposition figures, including Peter Obi and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, have been quick to criticise President Bola Tinubu’s handling of insecurity without presenting workable alternatives.

Oshiomhole questioned Obi’s security credentials, alleging that criminal activities, including kidnapping linked to the Bakassi Boys vigilante group, escalated during his administration in Anambra State.

According to the APC chieftain, the situation became so severe that Obi’s successor, Willie Obiano, had to take drastic measures, including demolishing properties allegedly connected to kidnappers and criminal networks.

“Peter Obi could not fix security in Anambra State. I was a governor then, and my state was safer than Anambra,” Oshiomhole said.

The senator also criticised what he described as vague opposition rhetoric, insisting that leaders seeking to govern must provide practical solutions rather than generic calls to “do the right thing.”

While acknowledging that Nigeria continues to face security challenges, Oshiomhole maintained that constructive alternatives, not constant criticism, are needed to tackle the crisis.

He further expressed confidence in President Bola Tinubu’s re-election prospects in 2027, predicting that Obi would struggle to match the support he received in the 2023 presidential election.

Oshiomhole governed Edo State from 2008 to 2016, while Obi served as governor of Anambra State between 2006 and 2014.
