Afrobeats superstar, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has said he would charge $500,000 per performance if he embarks on a joint world tour with fellow Nigerian singer, Wizkid.
Davido expressed confidence that the proposed tour would attract massive audiences, insisting that venues across the world would sell out.
The singer made the disclosure during an appearance on the IONWANNATALK show, where he discussed the possibility of recording music and touring with Wizkid.
He, however, expressed uncertainty about whether a joint record between them would become a commercial hit, citing the previous collaboration between D’banj and 2Baba as an example.
“If Wizkid and I do a song together, I don’t know if it will pop because when D’banj and 2Baba did a record together, it didn’t really pop,” he said.
Speaking more confidently about a possible joint tour, Davido said he would demand $500,000 for each show because of his belief in their combined commercial appeal.
“If we tour together, I’ll ask for $500,000 per show because I know every venue will sell out,” he stated.
Davido also revealed that he and Wizkid had not recorded a song together in approximately 10 years, clarifying that their lack of collaboration was not due to an inability to work together.
He explained that they had not been in the same mental space to pursue a musical partnership, while acknowledging differing opinions about whether their rivalry had contributed to their individual success or whether a collaboration could further boost their careers.
The singer further spoke about moving beyond past disagreements, noting that maturity involves recognising when one’s feelings about a situation have changed.
“I felt that way at some point but not anymore, and it takes a great man to do that,” he said.
