The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has rejected the inauguration of the state’s presidential campaign committee for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in the 2027 general election, saying the party’s leadership was not consulted before the list was made public.

The state APC chairman, Tajudeen Lawal, stated this in a statement, alleging that the camp of Governor Ademola Adeleke failed to consult the party’s leadership before releasing the committee list.

Lawal, however, reaffirmed the party’s support for Tinubu’s re-election, insisting that the campaign committee must be constituted in line with the party’s guidelines and established procedures.

He said the process leading to the release of the list did not involve the state party leadership and therefore lacked its endorsement.

According to Lawal, although the APC considers Tinubu’s re-election a collective responsibility, the process of setting up the campaign committee must involve proper consultation with relevant stakeholders.

“In as much as we consider the re-election of the national leader of our party, President Tinubu, as a collective task which we have been working vigorously and assiduously to achieve through various means, it is our view and conviction that such an exercise should be properly scheduled,” he said.

The chairman maintained that the party remained committed to Tinubu’s 2027 ambition but would not endorse a campaign committee established without following the appropriate procedures.
