Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff escaped unhurt after gunmen opened fire as he left a private event in Mumbai’s upscale Juhu district on Sunday evening, with police confirming that three suspects had been detained.
The 36-year-old actor did not sustain gunshot wounds, but two people, including his driver, were injured in the incident, according to police.
Police official Mohit Garg said Shroff was safe and that several teams had been deployed to investigate the shooting.
Three suspects were subsequently apprehended in Rajasthan, another Indian state. Police official Tejaswani Gautam said preliminary questioning showed that two of the suspects had previous cases against them, one involving theft and the other under the Arms Act.
Authorities have yet to establish the motive for the attack.
Mumbai, India’s financial capital and the centre of its Hindi-language film industry, is home to Bollywood’s biggest stars.
Shroff is renowned for his action roles in films, including the Baaghi franchise and War.
