The battle for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election in 2027 moves into a critical phase on Wednesday as the All Progressives Congress (APC) inaugurates its Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
With the countdown to the presidential election gathering momentum, the ruling party has unveiled an accreditation and logistics plan for the high-profile inauguration, setting the stage for the formal activation of its campaign machinery ahead of the 2027 contest.
The APC announced that accreditation for the inauguration of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu/APC 2027 Presidential Campaign Council would commence at 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 14, with party leaders, elected officials, candidates and other invited stakeholders directed to observe designated accreditation and pick-up arrangements.
The development signals another step in the ruling party’s preparations for Tinubu’s re-election campaign, bringing together key figures across the party’s national leadership, state structures and elected institutions.
In a press statement issued on Tuesday, APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, said the arrangements were designed to facilitate smooth accreditation and ensure orderly access to the inauguration venue.
APC Mobilises Party Leaders, Governors, Lawmakers
Under the arrangements announced by the party, members of the National Working Committee (NWC), National Executive Committee (NEC) and party caucus will collect their accreditation materials at the APC National Secretariat.
Members of the National Assembly are to use the National Assembly Complex as their designated pick-up point, while governorship and National Assembly candidates, state chairmen, local government area chairmen and other invitees are expected to collect theirs at Eagle Square.
The APC also directed the party’s National Chairman and National Secretary, state governors, presiding officers of the National Assembly and ministers to proceed directly to the Presidential Villa in their respective official vehicles.
The party urged all invited leaders and stakeholders to comply strictly with the arrangements to prevent delays and ensure an orderly inauguration.
Tinubu’s 2027 Battle Gathers Momentum
The inauguration comes as political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections intensify, with the ruling party moving to consolidate its organisational structure around the President’s re-election bid.
The campaign council is expected to serve as a central platform for coordinating the APC’s presidential campaign, drawing on the party’s national leadership, governors, lawmakers, ministers and grassroots structures.
However, the inauguration also places renewed attention on the political challenges confronting the ruling party as it prepares to defend its hold on power amid opposition mobilisation and public debate over the administration’s economic and governance policies.
The APC has not provided further details in the accreditation statement on the council’s operational structure or the specific responsibilities assigned to its members.
