Nigerian gospel music circles have been thrown into concern following reports of the death of singer Toluwanisings, although the circumstances surrounding the development remain unclear.
The news was announced on Wednesday by Pelumi Olajengbesi, convener of the Coalition of Public Interests Lawyers and Advocates (COPA), in a post on Instagram.
Sharing the singer’s photograph, Olajengbesi expressed grief over the reported death and called for God’s mercy, lamenting the increasing loss of young Nigerians.
He wrote, “My God! What a life! No, Lord! We plead for Your mercy upon Toluwanisings.”
He added, “I am deeply troubled by the deaths of young men and women. This is not God’s plan for us.”
Reacting to the development, comedian and gospel minister Woli Agba urged people not to give up hope, saying prayers were still being offered for a miracle.
“Please hold on. Please don’t conclude. We are trusting God. Please,” he wrote.
Singer Boyebest also expressed faith in God while responding to Woli Agba’s post.
“Yes yes yes. Yeah I have faith in God. I do. God you’ll do this one,” he wrote.
The reports emerged on social media earlier on Wednesday, with the development attracting reactions from members of the gospel entertainment community.
As of the time of filing this report, details surrounding the singer’s reported death had not been disclosed.
