Trump Announces Ukraine-Russia Energy Ceasefire, Zelensky Calls For Moscow’s Support

US President Donald Trump has announced that Ukraine and Russia have agreed to an immediate ceasefire covering energy infrastructure, but uncertainty remains over the deal as attacks continue and Moscow has yet to respond publicly.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he supported the proposed truce, stressing that Russia must also agree to its terms for it to take effect.

However, Zelensky later accused Russian forces of striking energy facilities after Trump announced that an agreement had been reached. Details of the reported ceasefire, including its precise conditions, remained unclear.

The announcement comes amid continued violence across Ukraine. Officials reported several deaths in separate attacks, including a strike on a grocery store in Kharkiv that killed three people.

Earlier, Zelensky criticised Trump’s reported deal to import Russian diesel into the United States, describing it as a “gift” to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Trump, who faces pressure to reduce fuel prices, responded by saying it was “time for Ukraine to get a new” leader, according to the BBC’s live coverage.

The latest developments have raised questions about the status of the proposed energy truce and whether both sides will commit to halting attacks on critical infrastructure.
