Veteran Nollywood actress Shaffy Bello has reaffirmed her commitment to Nigeria, saying she has no intention of relocating abroad despite the country’s challenges.
Bello made this known during a panel session at 20+ Years in the Media: Real Talk with Kike @7, where she reflected on her experience living in the United States and building her career in Nigeria.
“America trained me, but Nigeria made me,” she said.
Asked what could give young Nigerians hope amid current realities, the actress said she remained optimistic about the opportunities available in the country.
“I pray I never get the opportunity, as they call it, to go back. I’ve been there before. But because of the opportunities I’ve seen in this country, and still see, I never want to go back. This is home, this is where it is,” she stated.
Bello acknowledged persistent challenges in electricity, education and healthcare but urged young people to invest in self-development and make the most of their abilities.
On sustaining a long career in the entertainment industry, she emphasised authenticity, honesty and diligence.
“Look within yourself: what do you have to offer? What is in your hands? Whatever you have to offer, study, learn, and prove yourself worthy of it,” she advised.
The actress also stressed the importance of remaining true to oneself, explaining that honesty makes life easier, while lies require constant effort to maintain.
She further encouraged young Nigerians to keep faith at the centre of their pursuits.
