The Federal High Court in Abuja has struck out the eight-count criminal charge filed by the Federal Government against Adeniyi Adeyemi, who is accused of posing as the Director-General of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC).

Justice Mohammed Garba Umar terminated the case on Monday following an application by the Federal Government, which said Adeyemi would be arraigned afresh before the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory.

Moving the application, the Director of Public Prosecutions of the Federation, Rotimi Oyedepo, SAN, told the court that the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, SAN, had reviewed the case file and the charge initially filed by the Inspector-General of Police.

Oyedepo said the review revealed some loopholes in the case, adding that the alleged forged documents involved were matters that could be prosecuted by the FCT High Court rather than the Federal High Court.

He informed the court that a fresh charge had already been filed at the FCT High Court and asked Justice Umar to strike out the existing charge to allow the new proceedings to commence.

Counsel to Adeyemi, Ibrahim Angulu, SAN, did not oppose the application. The judge subsequently terminated the case.

Adeyemi, 38, had been charged alongside two other defendants, identified as Femi and Anu, whose surnames were not provided and whose whereabouts were unknown.

The charges bordered on conspiracy and forgery in connection with the alleged operation of a fake government agency.

The case was registered as FHC/ABJ/CR/25/2025.

The striking out of the charge followed the Federal Government’s decision to pursue the matter through a fresh arraignment at the FCT High Court.
