First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has called on Nigerians to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, saying his administration will move the country from economic reforms into a period of greater prosperity if given a second term.
She made the call on Saturday in Lafia, Nasarawa State, while speaking at the North-Central Mega Rally organised by the All Progressives Congress to mobilise support for Tinubu and Vice-President Kashim Shettima ahead of the 2027 elections.
The First Lady urged APC members to take the party’s message to communities across the region and mobilise support for the party’s candidates.
She highlighted what she described as achievements of the administration in areas including infrastructure, agriculture, education and economic management, arguing that continuity would help sustain the progress.
“President Tinubu is a man who believes in the unity, security and prosperity of our nation,” she said.
According to her, the President’s Independence Day message, titled “From Reforms to Prosperity,” reflects the next phase of the administration’s economic agenda.
“Mr President is saying that they are going to reform the sector, but now is the time for prosperity, and we can see our economy is stabilising,” she said.
Oluremi Tinubu also pointed to developments in foreign exchange and investment, saying investors were returning while farmers and state governments were contributing to economic activity and infrastructure development.
Having spent 12 years in the Senate, she said she had observed significant infrastructure development under the current administration.
“This is the best time I will see the government fixing roads and building a lot of infrastructure,” she said.
First Lady highlights food and education programmes
The First Lady also highlighted the administration’s food support initiatives, particularly programmes targeted at children, pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers.
She said the initiative was designed to improve access to nutritious food while supporting the treatment of malnourished children.
“This is to ensure that they can have more nutritious food, and also the children that are malnourished can get treatment and also get food to grow healthy,” she said.
She added that students were benefiting from government initiatives aimed at expanding access to education funding.
Oluremi Tinubu urged APC members to explain the administration’s programmes and policies to voters in their respective communities.
She described the President as a leader prepared to take difficult decisions and expressed confidence that the administration’s policies would strengthen the economy and improve security.
The First Lady further disclosed that the APC women’s wing had united its campaign efforts ahead of the 2027 elections.
She said the campaign would focus on the administration’s programmes and policies rather than hate speech or actions capable of undermining national unity.
She consequently urged voters to support continuity and the APC’s candidates in the 2027 elections.
The rally was hosted by Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule and attended by governors and other political leaders from the North-Central region.
