Alausa 2027: APM’s Laja Celebrates Teachers, Promises Promotion, Housing, Cars, Scholarship

The governorship candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) in Lagos State, Prince Laja Adeoye, has pledged a comprehensive overhaul of teachers’ welfare packages, promising state-backed housing schemes, vehicle loan support, and dedicated university scholarships for their children if elected governor in 2027.

Addressing educators across the state during the 2026 World Teachers’ Day celebrations, Adeoye maintained that the long-standing narrative of teachers receiving their rewards only in the afterlife must give way to immediate, tangible economic compensation during their active years of service.

The candidate, who is anchoring his political campaign on the “Reset Lagos” manifesto, identified functional education as the primary pillar of his socioeconomic vision for the commercial capital.

Adeoye stated that his administration would prioritise educator compensation through upward salary adjustments, timely promotions, expanded healthcare coverage, and targeted social safety nets tailored for classroom instructors.

Beyond direct wage improvements, the APM candidate outlined plans to institute an affordable home-ownership programme and structured vehicle assistance schemes designed to ease daily commuting burdens for public school personnel across the state.

He also announced that his administration would establish dedicated state scholarships specifically covering higher education tuition and stipends for the biological children of public school teachers.

On educational financing, Adeoye committed to raising the state’s budgetary allocation to the education sector above the internationally recommended United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) benchmark of 15 to 20 percent of total annual expenditure.

The increased funding, he explained, would go toward upgrading learning infrastructure across primary schools, secondary colleges, and state-owned tertiary institutions to bring public learning standards on par with global best practices.

Adeoye stressed that recurrent industrial actions, union stalemates, and disruptions to academic calendars would have no place in his administration, promising open, constructive engagement with labour leaders to resolve worker grievances before they escalate into classroom shutdowns.

He argued that sustained economic progress and long-term security in Lagos depend fundamentally on maintaining an uninterrupted learning environment for students across all tiers of education.

The governorship hopeful further tied his state reform agenda to the wider national “Reset” movement, noting that the campaign to revitalize education in Lagos reflects the broader governance philosophy promoted by the presidential aspiration of Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde.

Adeoye urged Lagos residents, parents, and community stakeholders to continue supporting and honouring educators, stating that the long-term prosperity of the state rests on the quality, morale, and dignity of its teaching workforce.
