Miriam Haley Breaks Silence After Weinstein’s 15-Year Sentencing

Former Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after being convicted of sexually assaulting former television production assistant Miriam Haley in New York in 2006.

Before the sentencing, Haley addressed the court and spoke about the lasting impact of the assault and the emotional toll of her years-long pursuit of justice.

Haley said the experience had deeply affected her life, leaving lasting consequences that she believes may never fully disappear.

“Being sexually assaulted by Harvey Weinstein has had a devastating effect on my life and sense of security that may never go away,” she said.

She added that speaking publicly about the case exposed her to fear, criticism and continued scrutiny.

“It’s a life sentence for me,” Haley told the court.

Weinstein, 74, maintained his innocence while asking the judge for leniency. He expressed sympathy for Haley’s suffering but continued to deny committing the offence.

“I do have remorse for Miriam Haley’s pain, but I have to reiterate my innocence,” Weinstein said.

The sentence followed a retrial after Weinstein’s original 23-year New York conviction was overturned by the state’s highest court in 2024.

During the retrial, jurors convicted him over the assault involving Haley but acquitted him of a separate allegation involving former model Kaja Sokola. The jury was unable to reach a verdict on a rape charge involving Jessica Mann.

Weinstein remains subject to a separate 16-year prison sentence in California following another rape conviction.
