Veteran entertainer and activist, Charly Boy, has revealed that he played a role in bringing content creator Isbae U and former President Olusegun Obasanjo together for the popular interview programme, Curiosity Made Me Ask.
Charly Boy disclosed this in a post shared on his X handle on Tuesday, where he reflected on the widely discussed appearance of the former president on the show.
According to him, the meeting demonstrated the importance of experienced Nigerians creating opportunities for younger people and being willing to engage with new ideas and platforms.
“Sometimes, the greatest thing you fit give a young person no be money. Na opportunity. Look at wetin happen when Baba entered Bae U’s world,” Charly Boy wrote.
He said Obasanjo’s willingness to participate in the unconventional format of the show showed how different generations could connect despite differences in age, style and background.
“A man of his age and experience sat down with a young man whose style dey completely different from wetin he is used to. Baba no just sit there looking serious. He matched the energy, played along and showed Nigerians another side of himself,” he added.
Charly Boy revealed that he helped facilitate the connection, saying he believed in the young creators behind the programme and wanted to support their work.
“Who helped make that connection happen? Charly Boy. Fada believed in the young people behind that show enough to pull Baba into their space,” he stated.
The episode attracted public attention after Obasanjo engaged in humorous exchanges with Isbae U, responding to questions and jokes in the style associated with the programme.
During the interview, the former president also spoke about contemporary Nigerian entertainment, including admitting that he was unfamiliar with some younger entertainers mentioned during the conversation.
Charly Boy used the moment to encourage older Nigerians to support younger talents by providing opportunities rather than only offering advice.
“To the older generation: don’t only tell young people to succeed. Give them room. Open doors. Recommend them. Trust them with opportunities,” he said.
He also advised young Nigerians to prepare themselves by building valuable skills and ideas so they can maximise opportunities when they come.
“When opportunity comes, be ready,” he added.
Charly Boy concluded that meaningful collaboration between generations can help preserve knowledge, create new opportunities and build a stronger society.
